The Most Advanced Escape Descent Control Device Available
The Escape Artist is fast becoming the industry standard, thanks to its hands-free edge transition and optimal descent control. When evaluating descenders side by side, many departments prefer the Escape Artist to other alternatives. Intended to be pre-rigged on an escape line and kept ready for immediate use, the Escape Artist pays out the rope or web smoothly and then locks when loaded, leaving both hands free to negotiate the exit. Squeezing the lever controls the descent rate. Intended for the most extreme conditions, the Escape Artist features all-metal construction and minimal parts to ensure durability and reliable performance. The handle is located inside the side plates to reduce the potential of catching on an edge and to increase mechanical advantage for easier control.
The Escape Artist uses a wrap and a half of the rope or web around the cam to activate the auto-locking function. This simple patented design provides foolproof activation while limiting the forces on the rope or web in the event of a fall, increasing safety. The cam has been updated with a new flange that extends a full 270° around the circumference, providing better rope guidance and optimizing the design for use with either escape cord or our Fire Escape Web.
The CMC Rescue School offers training classes for work-at-height rope access and rope rescue. Some courses may include instruction about proper use of the Escape Artist or similar devices used in personal escape bailout life safety systems. CMC Rescue School provides training with course work in technical rescue, tower rescue, fire rescue, confined space rescue & entry, trench rescue, emergency building shoring (EBS), rope access, rope rigging as well as custom contract rope rescue and industrial rope access courses offering class work for the specific needs in the above disciplines or in search and rescue (SAR), urban search and rescue (USAR), helicopter air operations (heli-ops, helo-ops), swiftwater rescue and tactical maneuvers.
