Non-locking carabiners can be used for racking equipment or as the keeper carabiner on a load-release strap or mariner's hitch. Non-locking carabiners should always be used in pairs, rigged opposite and opposed. Our oval aluminum carabiner features a unique key-lock design for snag-free operation and a side-swing gate for maximum gate opening. The oval design places equal amounts of force on the spine and gate, allowing the carabiner to maintain full rated strength regardless of the width of the web or rope clipped into it. It's also a good size to clip over the ropes coming out of a pulley to help mind a Prusik hitch.

Working at height requires reliable, quality equipment. The Aluminum Oval Carabiner can be used with confidence in work-at-height maneuvers for industrial rope access or technical rope rescue when used in accordance with the regulatory safety standards it falls under. The CMC Rescue School offers training classes for work-at-height rope access and rope rescue. Some courses may include instruction about proper use of the Aluminum Oval Carabiner or similar carabiners used in rope rigging systems.
